WEEK OF OCT. 24-28
ALGEBRA 2 HONORS
We have been graphing systems of inequalities and will continue this with Section 3-4, Linear Programming. We will cover such terms as feasible regions, bounded and unbounded regions, and maximum and minimum values. Then we will work on solving systems of equations with three variables. This will bring us to the end of the chapter so expect a Test next week.
ALGEBRA 1A CP2
This week we will work on multiplying and dividing rational numbers. We will use calcultors that do fractions to help us in this capacity. Then we will begin solving simple equations using either multiplication or division. Friday is quiz day as usual.
ALGEBRA 1 CP1
We continue our work on Section 3-7, Percent of Change, on Monday. We will go over the concepts of sales tax and discount for a second time before we move on to Section 3-8, Solving Equations and Formulas. The chapter is then over and we will review on Wednesday and Thursday for a Chapter 3 Test Friday.
GEOMETRY HONORS
We start the week off by continuing with Section 3-2, Angles and Parallel Lines, before we go to Section 3-3 on Slopes of Lines. This section should be familiar to you since it was covered last year in your Algebra class. We will then review for a quiz on 3-1 to 3-3 scheduled for Thursday.
FYI- We have only two weeks left in the first term (can you believe it ?) so now is NOT the time to slack off. Most of you have been working hard for me and it is appreciated even though I may not show it. I hope that this will continue throughout the whole year. I have confidence in you.

WEEK OF OCT. 17-21
ALGEBRA 2 HONORS
We continue our work with Systems of Equations, concentrating on word problems on Monday. A quiz is planned for Tuesday and we will do Problem Solving on the half day Wednesday. Then we work on Section 3-3, solving Systems of Inequalities by Graphing.
ALGEBRA 1A CP2
This week will be spent solving Absolute Value Equations. On Wednesday, the half day, we will do Problem Solving. We will have a Chapter Test at the end of the week.
ALGEBRA 1 CP1
We have been working for two days on solving equations with variables on both sides and will continue this Monday, with a quiz scheduled for Tuesday. We wll do Problem Solving on Wednesday, the half day and then go to Section3-7, Percent of Change.
GEOMETRY HONORS
We begin the week by reviewing Chapter 2 for a Test Tuesday. Wednesday will be spent doing Problem Solving on the half day. Then we will start Chapter 3, on Parallel and Perpendicular Lines.

WEEK OF OCT. 10-14

ALGEBRA 2 HONORS
We will be working on solving systems of equations algebraically this week. We will use the Substitution Method and the Elimination Method. On Wednesday you will be taking the PSAT Test during Periods A-D. This will give you an idea of what the SAT will look like next year, so try your best.

ALGEBRA 1A CP2
This week we will work on solving simple equations using addition or subtraction.with our usual quiz on Friday. On Wednesday we will have our class in Room 232 because of the PSAT Testing.

ALGEBRA 1 CP1
We begin the week by reviewing one-step and multi-step equations for a quiz on Wednesday. Then we will start solving equations with variables on both sides. Several days will be spent on this concept, one of the most important ones in Algebra 1.

GEOMETRY HONORS
We will cover Sections 2-7 and 2-8 this week, proving segment and angle relationships. Main ideas discussed will be: 1) segment addition, 2) definition of congruence, 3) angle addtion, 4) definition of complemetary and supplementary angles, and 5) Vertical Angles are Congruent. These will all be used in proofs in these sections and in future proofs. With that we will have finished the chapter and will begin our review heading towards a Chapter Test either on Friday or the beginning of next week.

WEEK OF OCT. 3-7

WEEK OF OCT.3 - 7

ALGEBRA 2 HONORS
We start the week by reviewing Chapter 2 for a Test on Wednesday. Then we start a unit on Systems of Equations. Systems will be solved by : 1) Graphing, 2) Substitution, and 3) Algebraically using the Elimination Method.

ALGEBRA 1A CP2
This week we begin Chapter 3, on Rational Numbers. These are numbers that can be written in fraction form, including whole numbers and most decimals. We will work on adding and subtracting these numbers, stressing the use of a calculator that does fractions. Then we will discuss the concepts of mean, median, mode, and range. Most of you have seen this in each of your last two years of Math, so it should not be too difficult. We will wrap up the week Friday with our usual quiz.

ALGEBRA 1A CP1
We start the week off with a review of Chapter 2 to prepare for a Chapter Test Tuesday. Then we begin Chapter 3 on solving equations, one of the most important concepts in all of Algebra. Most of you solved equations last year so the concept should not not be that hard to grasp. We will work on one-step equations and then move on to multi-step. Several days will be spent on this concept with a quiz scheduled for next week.

GEOMETRY HONORS
Last week you were introduced to Conditional Statements ("if-then") and how to write them. This week you will begin work on Formal Proofs, otherwise known as two-column proofs. We will do some algebraic proofs in Section 2-6 and review for a quiz scheduled for Thursday on Sections 2-1 to 2-6, omitting 2-4. Then we cover 2-7, Proving Segment Relationships. Such concepts as Segment Addition and Definition of Congruent Segments will be discussed and how they will be worked into proofs.
