WEEK OF OCT.3 - 7
ALGEBRA 2 HONORS
We start the week by reviewing Chapter 2 for a Test on Wednesday. Then we start a unit on Systems of Equations. Systems will be solved by : 1) Graphing, 2) Substitution, and 3) Algebraically using the Elimination Method.
ALGEBRA 1A CP2
This week we begin Chapter 3, on Rational Numbers. These are numbers that can be written in fraction form, including whole numbers and most decimals. We will work on adding and subtracting these numbers, stressing the use of a calculator that does fractions. Then we will discuss the concepts of mean, median, mode, and range. Most of you have seen this in each of your last two years of Math, so it should not be too difficult. We will wrap up the week Friday with our usual quiz.
ALGEBRA 1A CP1
We start the week off with a review of Chapter 2 to prepare for a Chapter Test Tuesday. Then we begin Chapter 3 on solving equations, one of the most important concepts in all of Algebra. Most of you solved equations last year so the concept should not not be that hard to grasp. We will work on one-step equations and then move on to multi-step. Several days will be spent on this concept with a quiz scheduled for next week.
GEOMETRY HONORS
Last week you were introduced to Conditional Statements ("if-then") and how to write them. This week you will begin work on Formal Proofs, otherwise known as two-column proofs. We will do some algebraic proofs in Section 2-6 and review for a quiz scheduled for Thursday on Sections 2-1 to 2-6, omitting 2-4. Then we cover 2-7, Proving Segment Relationships. Such concepts as Segment Addition and Definition of Congruent Segments will be discussed and how they will be worked into proofs.
