WEEK OF APRIL 29- MAY 3
ALGEBRA 1 CP1
This week we will finish Factoring by covering Section 8-8. This section discusses the idea of Factoring Completely, in which you will look to take out a GCF before factoring into ( )( ). We will also factor the Difference of Two Squares.
Then we will begin Chapter 9 on Quadratic Functions and Inequalities. This will introduce us to a Parabola, its Axis of Symmetry and its Graph. We will spend the rest of the week on this concept.
ALGEBRA 1 CP2
We have been multiplying polynomials and will finish this up by working on some special cases. The rest of the week will be spent reviewing for a Chapter Test Friday. We have not had a Chapter Test in quite awhile so we really need to prepare for it.
GEOMETRY HONORS
The week begins with a review of Sections 11-1 to 11-3 on areas of polygons, regular polygons, and circles. You will have a quiz Tuesday on this material. Then we will find the area of irregular figures and I will introduce you to the concept of Geometric Probability and the area of a Sector
ALGEBRA 2 HONORS
We start the week off with a continuation of Section 8-7, solving Quadratic Systems by Graphing and Algebra. I will the give you a packet of MCAS Geometry problems that were taken from the actual test ffom the past ten or so years. We will spend at least three days on this material before we begin Chapter 10 on Logarithms.

WEEK OF APRIL 22-26
ALGEBRA 1 CP1
We began factoring trinomials the week before vacation. This week we will continue this concept with some more detailed types of factoring that are covered in Section 8-7 of your text. We will spend the whole week working on this idea with a quiz to follow on Friday.
ALGEBRA 1 CP2
We have been working on adding and subtracting polynomials for a week now and it is time to move on to multiplication. This week we will learn how to multiply a monomial by a polynomial and a binomial by a binomial. A method called FOIL will be introduced with binomials, but all it really is is the Distributive Property, of which you are very familiar with. We will spend the entire week working on this concept with our weekly quiz on Friday.
GEOMETRY HONORS
The week before vacation we basically finished Chapter 10 on Circles. Monday will be a review day followed by a Chapter 10 Test Tuesday. Then we will go to Chapter 11 on Areas. In this chapter we will find the areas of parallelograms, triangles, trapezoids, rhombi, regular polygons (ie. pentagon, hexagon, etc.) and irregular figures. We will also work with sectors and Geometric Probability.
ALGEBRA 2 HONORS
Before vacation we were working on Parabolas. Monday will be considered a review day and we will have a quiz Tuesday on just Parabolas. Then we will go to Sections 8-6 & 8-7, identifying Conic Sections and solving Quadratic Systems by graphing and algebra. In the next week or two I will also offer a review of Geometry to prepare for the MCAS Math Test later in May.
I hope that you all had a relaxing vacation, despite all the incidents that went on in Boston. Please remember that even though this is the last term we really have another one called FINAL EXAMS. This is worth the same as one term so we cannot afford to slack off. I know I won't. Remember to take advantage of Homework Club and Math Lab during your directed studies, and of course I am always here after school for you.

WEEK OF APRIL 8 to APRIL 12
ALGEBRA 1 CP1
This week we will work solely on factoring trinomials into products of binomials. You will do a worksheet each night as homework. A quiz is scheduled for Friday.
ALGEBRA 1 CP2
This week we will work on the concept of adding and subtracting polynomials with our usal quiz set for Friday.
GEOMETRY HONORS
The week starts off with a review of Sections 10-4 to 10-6 to prepare for a quiz Tuesday. Then we will work on Sections 10-7 and 10-8, Special Segments in a Circle and Equations of Circles. This will finish the chapter, which means that a Chapter Test will be coming after vacation.
ALGEBRA 2 HONORS
We begin the week with a quiz on ellipses and hyperbolas. From there we will go back to section 8-2 on Parabolas. You have already done some work with parabolas, but thes were Quadratic Functions and only opened up or down. These parabolas will open left and right.
